Brad Westcott interview

I've been following this photographer Brad Westcott for a while. He makes photographs with the subject matter of skateboarding, train hopping, travel, etc. He's pretty rad. He had a nice little interview on Empty Stretch discussing such things.

This New Commute - Show Documentation

On Friday, December 2nd my first solo show opened at Escapist in Downtown Kansas City. Here is some show documentation.

East Wall

South Wall

West Wall

Here are a couple photos from the night of the opening. You can see the skate shop portion of Escapist in the background. My wonderful Thesis teacher Diana Heise is in the front right. She helped a lot. (Sorry for the bad photo!)

My parents and me in front of a couple pieces.

Overall I think it went pretty well. There was a good turn out and I had some great conversations about the work with people. Putting together the show was a challenge that taught me a lot. I'm very excited about group shows I have planned with other past graduates this spring/summer and future exhibitions as well creating new bodies of work. I expect 2012 to be a great year of exploratory growth for me in developing my work and finding my own voice as an artist.

Rod Harper. Insight clothing profile.

Recently, Insight clothing put up a small online profile for their team rider, and local Kansas Citian, Rod Harper. I shot both skate photos and portrait.

Transworld Japan.

I got three photos published in Transworld Japan for Sean Malto's interview. The most photos I've had in one magazine so far!

Richard Estes

So far, this is my favorite painting by him. The cropping of those people makes it.

Gertrude Stein rejection letter...
